For years now India has been a prime victim of terrorism. After the Jaipur blasts, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had mooted a proposal for a new federal agency for fighting terror. But the contours of the proposed federal agency are unclear. Also, there is a need to undertake a thorough audit of the working of the existing organisations and to understand as to why they have failed to function in an effective and coordinated manner.

Spell it out, Advani
Your editorial Shadow boxers come out (June 4) makes a valid point about L.K. Advani. Advani, since he became BJP’s prime ministerial candidate has not made any statement on the myriad important issues facing the country today. It is high time he does so.

Alliance not possible
Apropos of Abhishek Singhvi’s Never the twain shall meet (June 4), the idea of a Congress-BJP alliance was mooted with a view to bring in stability at the Centre in the event of another hung Parliament. But then, Golwalkar’s philosophy can hardly gel with the Gandhi-Nehru brand of thought. As for the RSS, its regressive ideology is yet to adjust to with the principles of modern political thought.

Media circus
Apropos of Shohini Ghosh’s Here we are now, entertain us (June 4), I completely agree with the author’s views. There was a time when journalism was considered a noble profession. But in the race for TRPs and circulation, television channels and newspapers have forgotten the ethics of journalism. The Aarushi-Hemraj case is not the only case where a tragedy has been converted into shameless entertainment. It has become a regular affair, specially on television.
