ONGC staffer's body found 10 days after chopper crash
The body of RM Murthy was recovered 56 km off Mumbai coast more than 10 days after the crash of Mesco Aviation helicopter.
The body of ONGC employee RM Murthy was recovered on Thursday more than 10 days after the crash of Mesco Aviation helicopter in Mumbai High.
"The body, which was found in a decomposed state near the rig, has been flown to Mumbai and the cremation would take place tomorrow (Friday)," an ONGC spokesperson said.
The body was found near Neelam VIII, 56 km off the coast in the Arabian sea, around 10 am.
With the recovery of Murthy's body the toll has now risen to 26. Meanwhile, air surveillance to trace chopper's co-pilot DK Mittal was still on. Two persons had survived the crash.
The MI-172 helicopter of Mesco Aviation carrying mostly ONGC employees plunged into the sea three minutes after take-off from a rig on August 11.
