Pak's defence impregnable: Musharraf

A day after his foreign office threatened "a nuclear war", President Pervez Musharraf has said that any "punitive" action by India on Pakistan would be "paid back in the same coin".

"Nobody should have this wishful thinking that Pakistan will bear any kind of adventure inside its territory. No one can take any punitive action against Pakistan as the country's defence is in strong hands," Musharraf was quoted by The News.

Pakistan has been reacting to Indian media reports advocating "hot pursuit" of the militants that are supposed to be moving from and to Pakistan after conducting acts of violence in India, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan's defence, Musharraf said, was "impregnable".

Comparing it with the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, he observed that the weakness of Lebanon's defence was the main cause of Israeli aggression against it.

"We will maintain the country's strong defence and its deterrence capability, which is the guarantee of security," he said while laying the foundation of an oil refinery at Port Qasim, Karachi.

"Pakistan is against terrorism and will cooperate in all efforts for ending the menace. We will never allow the use of Islam in wrong direction. Islam should be a binding force not a dividing one," the president said.
