Pak stays execution of jailed Briton

Mirza Tahir Hussain, 36, was scheduled to be hanged on August 3 for the 1988 murder.

Pakistan's president granted one-month stay of execution for a British-Pakistani national convicted of killing a taxi driver 18 years ago, a prison official said on Thursday.

But Mahmood Ahmed, an official at the Adiala Jail where Hussain is being held near the capital, Islamabad, said he received an order from President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday to postpone Hussain's execution until September 1.
