PM pays obeisance to Sai Baba
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee paid obeisance to spiritual guru Satya Sai Baba during his two-day visit to Karnataka.
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his family members on Wednesday drove to Whitefield on the outskirts of Bangalore to pay obeisance to spiritual guru Satya Sai Baba.
Vajpayee, who is on a two-day visit to Karnataka for campaigning, was closeted with Sai Baba for nearly an hour in the company of his foster daughter Namita Bhattacharya, son-in-law Ranjan Bhattacharya and granddaughter Niharika.
Later, Vajpayee and Sai Baba came out for a photo opportunity but tight security prevented any interaction with reporters.
Officials accompanying the prime minister declined to reveal what transpired between Vajpayee and Sai Baba.
This is the second time Vajpayee has met Saibaba after the general election was announced February 29. The first meeting last month was at the spiritual leader's ashram at Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh.
During summer, Sai Baba shifts to Bangalore to avoid the scorching heat.
Vajpayee later went to the Vidhana Soudha, the Karnataka legislature complex, to garland the statue of B R Ambedkar on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the author of the Indian constitution.
