Police on Friday arrested a man suspected to have been involved in the Ajmer blasts in 2006.
"The SOG today nabbed one Saeed Mota in an encounter near the Armapur canal. Saeed is a suspect in the Ajmer blasts of 2006. Based on some newspaper reports which talked of his alleged involvement in the blasts, we grilled him only to learn that he was in Ajmer during that period. We have also informed the Ajmer police about this." SSP Kanpur AK Singh said today.
Ajmer police is shortly expected to reach Kanpur for further interrogation.
Police has recovered Rs 10000 in cash from Saeed along with a .32 bore country-made pistol and live cartridges.
Saeed Mota has a dozen of criminal cases registered against him, the most recent being a robbery in Jalaun district on May 18.
