Poll process set in motion in Karnataka
EC issues notification for the first of the three-phased elections and nomination papers for that could be filed till April 23.
The process for the next month's assembly polls in Karnataka was set in motion on Wednesday with the Election Commission issuing notification for the first of the three-phased elections.
As many as 89 assembly constituencies spread over 11 districts of Tumkur, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Ramanagar, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu, Mysore and Chamarajnagar will go to polls in the first phase on May 10.
Nomination papers for that could be submitted till April 23. The nominations will be scrutinised the next day and last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 26.
Notification for the second phase of polls, fixed for May 16 and for the third phase scheduled to be held on May 22, will be issued on April 16 and April 26 respectively.
Sixty-six Assembly constituencies in 10 districts and 69 segments covering eight districts will face the ballot in the second and third phases respectively.
The counting of votes of all the 224 constituencies will be taken up on May 25.
