The presentation on BRTS will precede projection on Indore City Transport Services Limited (ICTSL), its constitution and economic model adopted to run it. The main presentation would deal with how the existing infrastructure could be upgraded to implement the project and how ICTSL would manage BRTS.

District administration will also ask the Union Urban Development Ministry to fix an international agency for carrying out a survey and prepare a detailed project report.

SDM and ICTSL in-charge Chandramauli Shukla informed development of 88 km roads proposed for BRTS will include development of roads along river beds, upgradation of Ring Road and A B Road as per BRT norms and setting up cross sections. At present, Indore has roads of varying width that have been built by Indore Municipal Corporation, Indore Development Authority and Public Works Department.

The Major Road number nine and 10, for instance, are 75 meter wide while other roads have 45 to 60 meters of width. The roads above 45 meters would be widened for BRT.

According to BRT proposal, coordination among road-maintaining agencies would not be problem as IDA and IMC are in the ICTSL management board and the same factor would ensure smooth and efficient functioning of rapid bus services.

Officials here are hopeful that Union Ministry would approve the BRTS for Indore looking at the existing infrastructure and successful launch of ICTSL buses.
