Agitating Gujjars finally allowed doctors to conduct post-mortems on the bodies of the 16 people killed in police firing at Pilupura village in Bharatpur district on May 23.
Earlier, leaders of the Gujjar Arakshan Samiti insisted on simultaneous post-mortems being carried out on the bodies of those killed at Sikandra and Sawai Madhopur.
The Rajasthan government acceded to the request and shifted 14 bodies from Sawai Man Singh hospital to Sikandra whereas Gujjar agitators were in the possession of 6 bodies.
Bharatpur District administration had sent four bodies to Pilupura on Sunday but the post-mortem could not be conducted as Bainsala wanted the government to conduct the post-mortem also.
Principal secretary irrigation SN Thanvi said, “As per the understanding reached, the post-mortem of the bodies has started. Bainsala has passed on the message to Gujjar leaders to allow the doctors to start post mortem of bodies at Sikandra and Sawaimadhopur.”
