A 58-year-old Indian worker was shot dead by unidentified robbers in Virginia in the United States, his family said on Sunday.

Nirmal Singh, from Mianpur village in Punjab’s Ropar district, worked at a store in Virginia.
Around midnight (US time) on Friday, Singh and his Gujarati friend were preparing to go home after closing the store when three people entered the store and demanded money from them.
When they resisted, the armed robbers fired at them. Singh who was shot in the chest died on the spot. His friend, shot in the leg, survived.
The police informed the family about Singh’s death Friday afternoon.
Singh’s wife lives in Mianpur while his daughter lives in the United Sates. One of his sons lives in Canada and the other in Kuwait.
Singh’s body will most likely be cremated in the United States, his family told Hindustan Times.
