Former PM P V Narasimha Rao, found a pride of place at an election rally addressed by Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Nellore.

Former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, who is keeping himself away from active politics, found a pride of place at an election rally addressed by Congress President Sonia Gandhi in coastal Andhra town of Nellore today.

Gandhi's brief 15-minute address at a public meeting in the town sent out a significant political message when she sought to put Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and P V Narasimha Rao on the same footing.

"If you vote Congress to power, I can assure you the welfare programmes that were the hallmarks of the governments of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indiramma, Rajivji and P V Narasimha Rao will be revived and the country will be put back on the path of progress," she said.
