The State Government has issued a warning to private colleges not to collect fees more than the fixed fee. The government also warned against demanding bank guarantee. The colleges have been asked to put up fixed fees structure on notice board.

If any college collects fees more than the decided structure, it would be considered profiteering and action would be initiated against the errant institutes. The Government has warned that the High Court and the Medical Council of India/ Dental Council of India would be intimated about such action.

Apart from tuition fees, the colleges can charge Rs 1,000 annually as education fund, Rs 1,200 as one-time hostel caution money (voluntary), Rs 6,000 as annual hostel fees (voluntary), Rs 4,500 as transport fees (voluntary) and Rs 800 annually as mess charges (voluntary).

If the final fees structure decided by the committee is higher than interim fees, the remaining amount will be collected from students during the next academic session and if final fees is lower, the adjustment will be made in the next year’s fees. There are three private medical and ten private dental colleges and the decision is applicable to all.
