A few months ago, Mahajan had announced that he would launch the National award winning cinematographer of Swades, Mahesh Aney, as director.

The film is a remake of a Gujarati play, Amhe Lay Gaya Tamhe Ray Gaya, in which Sharman Joshi had enacted four roles. The film will be a laugh riot with Javed Jafferey essaying four roles. The film was to be shot in a start to finish schedule in Bangkok.

Confirming the news, Aney says, “I don’t want to get into details now. But yes, there was some misunderstanding between the playwright and us. So for now, the film is shelved.”

Aney even accepts that he had managed to get combination dates of all, right from the members of his crew to his
actors, besides booking the venue.

“We could have gone ahead with the project after making a few changes in the script a bit. But we didn’t want to do that,” he explains.

So has Mahajan scrapped his idea of turning producer? Anay clarifies, “I’m supposed to meet Rahul today (Tuesday). I’ve a couple of other scripts too but that depends on Rahul.”

The plot of the play: A 55-year-old multimillionaire, Ajmera, discovers that his young wife is having a clandestine affair with his PA. The lovers kill him. They presume he’s dead and dispose of his corpse.

The advocate arrives with the multimillionaire’s will. To their surprise, it is revealed that he has made three different wills but none are signed.

Now begins a hilarious roller-coaster ride involving a fake multi-millionaire who’s out to get his millions. Three look-alikes are trained to impersonate Ajmera. The original Ajmera too arrives.
