Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is set to kick-start his 'Discovery of India' journey from Orissa this month, addressing nine rallies in different parts of the state.
Gandhi will hit the road from Nuapada, one of the poorest regions of the country, March 7. He is expected to cover at least 13 districts by March 10, state Congress president Jayadev Jena told IANS.
In Nuapada, Gandhi will visit Sinapali village to inspect the implementation of the Western Orissa Rural Livelihoods Project, a joint venture of the state government and DFID - Britain's Department for International Development.
The Congress general secretary will then travel by helicopter to Nabrangpur, another backward district, and address a student rally there. From there, he is scheduled to visit Kalahandi and meet the Dangaria Kandh tribals.
Gandhi, MP from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, will visit Dasmantpur block of Koraput and neighbouring Rayagada district, where nearly 100 people died of cholera last year. "He will meet the affected families," Jena said.
He is also set to attend several programmes and public meetings in the districts of Sundergarh, Angul, Ganjam, Cuttack, Jajpur, Sambalpur and Khordha.
On March 10, he will visit the state Congress office at Bhubaneswar, meet party functionaries and address a press conference.
