Rlymen held hostage by irate armymen

ARMY PERSONNEL led by a Major held half a dozen railway employees, including three deputy station superintendents, hostage for several hours at the Mughalsarai junction in Chandauli district on Tuesday  to protest against the halt of the train away from the platform for nearly 18 hours.

After intervention of senior railway and administrative officials, the train left for its destination to Pokhran in Rajasthan through an alternative route via Sonnagar and Singrauli as the Allahabad division had refused to receive the special Army train.

According to information, the special train, carrying around 1,000 jawans and vehicles, reached Mughalsarai junction from Nampom station of East Central Railway late night on Monday. The railway authorities stopped the train on 16 number railway track in the yard which was filthy. The train remained here for 18 hours, causing a lot of difficulties to the Army personnel.

A Major requested the railway officials to look into the matter several times but the railway officials said that Allahabad division was not ready to receive the train on the route of Allahabad from Mughalsarai, so the train could not be taken on the Mughalsarai platform .

Ultimately, the Army personnel lost their patience and rushed to the station and held half a dozen employees from the control-room hostage. They took them to the site full of garbage where the train was stranded.

On getting information, DRM R Vijay Mohan rushed to the spot, talked to the authorities in Railway Board at New Delhi and decided the route of Singrauli for the train. The train left at 10. pm in the night.
