The incident in Talkatora took place around 12.50 pm when the cops were carrying out a vehicle checking drive near Tikona Park a few yards away from the Para police outpost. The cops waved a matador carrying drums of diesel to stop but the driver accelerated the vehicle to avoid the checking.

Driving rashly to run away from the scene, the driver lost control over speed of the vehicle and hit a motorcycle merely a few yards away from the checking point.

The motorcycle was  dragged under the wheels of the matador while three youths riding on it suffered severe head injuries. Local residents ran to the place but the erring driver fled the scene leaving the vehicle. The cops reached there only after the people informed them.

The residents and two constables rushed the injured to the KGMU Trauma centre where they were declared brought dead. The constables, however, disappeared from the hospital soon after they came to know about the deaths.

The doctors initially searched them and later informed the cops at the KGMU outpost.

CO Chowk Rajesh Sahni later sent the body for the post-mortem examination, as Talkatora police did not respond even after several calls made to them on wireless.

While the youth driving the vehicle was identified as Akbar Ali (24) of Dubagga, Kakori and others were labourers—-Babloo and Feroz Ali of Hardoi.

On the other hand, incensed over the road mishap the local residents smashed the matador badly and were about to set it ablaze when the cops somehow managed to take the vehicle away to the police station.

The mob later blocked the road protesting laxity of the police for allowing heavy vehicles during daytime on the route. The residents alleged that the policemen at Para outpost extort money from the drivers and allow them move freely. The blockade, however, was removed only after the police officials pacified the mob assuring them to recommend their demands to the administration.
