Immigration officers did not give any date for his return to India. His lawyer Imran Khan was unavailable for comment.

The fact that he was transferred from the high-security Belmarsh prison to Immigration for his deportation immediately after the ruling, meant the judge commuted the remaining nine months of his sentence. Sabeel has “voluntarily” opted to return to India.

Immigration authorities have not yet formally contacted the High Commission, which they “would have to do” once they are ready to fly him out.

Sabeel was suspected of knowing about his brother Kafeel and Bilal Abdullah’s plan to attack Glasgow airport.
