Salman Khan found guilty in poaching case

Bollywood star Salman Khan was found guilty on Friday of hunting rare antelope in a desert wildlife preserve, news reports said.

Khan was charged with driving into the Thar desert during a break from filming a movie and shooting black bucks, Aaj Tak news channel reported. The trial has been under way for seven years in Jodhpur.

The two actors and four others were booked under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, by the Jodhpur police in Mathania police station for hunting the endangered species of deer.

The final arguments on behalf of the accused were made in the court on February 4.

Salman Khan, along with actor Satish Shah and seven others, is accused of poaching two Chinkaras at a village near Jodhpur in 1998, during the shooting of the film Hum Saath Saath Hain.
