A conglomeration of several Sikh organisations, including the radicals on Wednesday, launched a ten-day long sit-in demanding immediate arrest of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh for his alleged involvement in killing of a Sikh in Mumbai last month.
The activists of Sant Samaj, led by Damdami Taksal chief Harnam Singh Khalsa, assembled at Mohali. The protesters sat on dharna near the roundabout and started chanting hyms and prayers.
"Our protest in the form of sit-in will remain peaceful," Khalsa, a protester said.
The protest will continue till July 19.
Khalsa said the Sant Samaj will announce further action after the conclusion of dharna if the Governments in Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra and the Centre failed to heed to their demand of arresting the Dera chief.
