An industrialist by profession and a politician by passion, Rajya Sabha MP and Congress leader Santosh Bagrodia brings with him the legacy of social service.
The three-time 68-year-old MP from Rajasthan, Bagrodia's political career spans over 23 years.
Bagrodia entered active politics in 1975 after serving the people for almost two decades as a social worker.
Bagrodia has assisted Congress in many elections as high command observer in Sikkim, Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Tripura, Punjab and Delhi.
He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1986 and re-elected to the House in 1998 and 2004.
Known for his services to the under privileged of the society, Bagrodia has arranged a number of widow remarriages and helped some NGOs in constructing schools for physically and visually-challenged people.
Bagrodia also served as in-charge of Congress publications -- The Congress and Congress Saptahik -- in 1989.
During his previous tenures in Rajya Sabha, he represented many house committees and is currently the Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry.
Born on November 12, 1940, in Calcutta, Bagrodia was educated in the prestigious St. Xavier's College in Jaipur.
