The award consisted of  Rs 11,000 in cash,  a shawl and a memento presented by Bashiran Bai, wife of late Latif Khan.   Following  the felicitation, curtains drew apart for the  musical  evening with the ‘Tigalbandi’ of Javed Khan, Hanif Hussain and Amit Chourasia,  who are young sarangi players based in Bhopal.

After the stringed renditions, eminent sarangi player from Patna, Ustad Roshan Ali catalysed the musical mood by churning out Raag Prabhavati in Teen Tal. This Raag, generally played in the evening, is an unusual one. This was followed by Thumri in Raag Mishra Khamaj. The melody and technical perfection of Roshan Ali’s rendition reached its culminating point with Poorav Ki Chaiti.

The next presentation was that of  ‘Tal Vad,’ which consisted of a variety of musical instruments reaching synergy and keeping the audience spell-bound once again. Nisar Hussain Khan was on tabla, Akhilesh Gundecha on pakhvaj, Akbar Khan on nakkara and Anoop Singh Borlia on dholak.

The combined rendition echoed in the auditorium, giving an ecstatic end to the musical bonanza.
