According to the feedback that Bhopal police have given to Indore police, most of the goods looted in the Scheme No 78 dacoity would be recovered. A team led by CSP Jitendra Singh has already reached Bhopal and is interrogating the suspects.

These Bangladeshi gangs had struck at 11 places in Bhopal, Ujjain, Dewas and Indore since June this year. Earlier, some other Bangladeshi gangs were involved in seven dacoities between December 2004 and February 2005, before they were nabbed by Indore police with the help of Delhi Crime Branch.

Meanwhile, four persons hailing from Bangladesh have been arrested in connection with the recent dacoities in Bhopal apart from similar strikes in Indore, Dewas and Ujjain.

Addressing a press conference in Bhopal on Thursday, IG Sanjeev Kumar Singh said that a big gang of Bangladeshis was behind the dacoities and the four accused are involved with the gang.

Claiming that it was a major breakthrough and the rest of the gang members would be soon nabbed, Singh said that the investigation was in the preliminary stage and not much could be shared with the media as yet. The accused were initially caught under the Passport Act, as they did not possess legal documents about their stay in India.

He said that the Dewas, Indore, Bhopal and Ujjain police worked in close coordination and soon after the dacoity in Indore on Wednesday that was on similar pattern, the police got on the trail of accused. One person was arrested in Dewas and subsequent clues led to three more arrests in Bhopal. No booty has been recovered from them but the police claim that the gang has been identified and the rest of the dacoits would be nabbed soon.

Those arrested include Habib alias Mota, Muneer, Shadab alias Guddu and Mubeen. The gang members identified such plush houses that had many four-wheelers and servants and would hide in an under-construction house nearby. Singh said that the gang members kept a close watch on the patrolling police parties and struck after 3 am so that they could leave the house early in the morning.

After police sensed that they used to hide in such desolate places and intensified vigil, the dacoits targeted Malwa region. The Range IG said that the dacoits have nearly confessed their involvement in the Indore dacoity. Two policemen, Khalil and Kailash, both of Dewas police, would be promoted.
