Scindia calls for CBI probe into IPS officer's murder
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries, Jyotiraditya Scindia, today said that Madhya Pradesh government should hand over the probe into the murder of IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh to Central Bureau of Investigation.
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries, Jyotiraditya Scindia, on Friday said that Madhya Pradesh government should hand over the probe into the murder of IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh to Central Bureau of Investigation.
Kumar was crushed under a tractor-trolley carrying illegally quarried stones when he tried to stop it in Morena district on Thursday.
"If the state government feels any difficulty in getting to the bottom of the incident, then it should recommend CBI probe and we would help out the government in this regard," Scindia said, talking to reporters.
The Congress leader pointed out that it was the central agency which cracked RTI activist Shehla Masood murder case.
People of the state had a feeling that illegal mining had a direct patronage of BJP leaders, Scindia said.
Congress, the main opposition in the state, had warned the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government about illegal mining menace, but the government took no action which had resulted in Thursday's incident, he alleged.
Madhya Pradesh was fast emerging as a number one state in the country in crime rate, he said, referring to the recent case of gang-rape in Indore.
The police were demoralised because they were being targeted by the government, Scindia said, citing recent suspension of 10 policemen of Kamla Nagar police station for alleged manhandling of RSS workers.
To a query, the union minister rejected the possibility of mid-term polls in the country.
