The city of skyscrapers, swanky corporate offices and shopping complexes has a flip side too. Stray animals, garbage dumped in open and slums spread over the green belt are some of the common sites in Sector 15 Part 2 just along the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.
According to the residents, in response to their repeated complaints about poor infrastructure, they have got nothing but assurance from the administration.
They say the slums that have mushroomed in the green belt along the highway pose serious security threat. Incidents of theft and snatching are increasing, while no sanitary staff is assigned to clean roads or collect garbage from the area.
Stray animals cause frequent accidents on the road and many people are attacked by street dogs. But officials have a stereotyped answer — "Animals cannot be killed. We would ask the concerned department to sterilise them", said one of the residents of Sector 15.
The residents have been demanding a connecting road between Chander Nagar and Jharsa. "Other roads of the colony are also in bad shape even though they were carpeted last year. Besides, the fencing of Jharsa Bundh is broken but nobody looks into the matter," said a resident.
Narender Yadav, estate officer, Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda), said, "I receive complaints from residents and I visited the area too. After analysing the situation we have forwarded their complaints to the concerned department and we are hopeful that things would improve."
