Senior citizens must share expertise: Kokje

He was speaking as the chief guest at the fifth annual get-together of Senior Citizens Forum held at Eden garden AB road on Sunday.

Kokje, who is also the chief patron of the organisation, praised its activities and thanked the members who are all retired class one personnel from various fields and had been the movers and shakers in their times. He exhorted them to adopt their after retirement lifestyle in ways where their time can be utilised for the public good.

The Governor also enquired about the other activities being undertaken by the forum. He lauded the appreciable efforts made in the direction of consumer rights by establishing a Consumers Right Forum and by dispensing free advise on the Right To Information (RTI) Act.

Nupur Dubey, who is an acclaimed classical dancer having given several national level presentations and recently completed a tour of Canada and presently working as senior dance teacher in the prestigious Daly College, gave a performance drawing all round applause. Two classical singers and two members playing musical instruments accompanied her. Several entertaining games were held for the members and their families.

Two lucky draws were taken out for the members and were incidentally won by a couple. Senior most member Narayan Singh was also felicitated on the occasion.

The event attended by a gathering of about 120 persons was planned, executed and compeered by Forum convenor retired senior bureaucrat KS Parmar. Forum president former Vikram University Vice Chancellor PN Kavthekar proposed the vote of thanks.
