Serial killer case gets murkier

The serial lady killer case got murkier with three more parents suspecting 40-year-old Mahanand Naik's involvement in disappearance of their daughters.

With this, the toll of Mahanand's cases has gone up to ten with the alleged killer confessing of killing four young women since 1994.

Mahanand, was arrested in the last week of April for raping his wife's friend and later confessed of killing two young girls staying around Ponda town.

The case, which is being investigated by Ponda police, got deepened further with family members of two more girls appeared at the police station accusing Mahanand of killing their daughters.

During the interrogation, Mahanand confessed of killing both and disposing their bodies in the river.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Serafin Dias said that the killer was luring girls with a marriage proposal asking them to wear gold and later kill them at isolated spot.

"The intention of all these murders were to rob gold," Dias said.

The police investigations so far has solved the murder mysteries of young women including Darshan Naik (1994), Vasanti Gawade (1995), Kesar Naik (2007) and Yogita Naik (2009).
