"So far, the Commission has not received any Presidential reference on Sonia Gandhi holding office of profit but the law is equal for all", Tandon added.

"If there is any complaint against a person holding an office of profit, the President issues a notification which is then referred to the Election Commission for verification", the CEC said.

Gandhi is under attack for allegedly holding an office of profit as Chairperson of National Advisory Council with the opposition demanding disqualification of her Lok Sabha membership as was done in the case of Rajya Sabha's Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan's case.
