Strengthening defence cooperation with Pakistan would figure during the visit of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to Islamabad starting on Friday.
During the three-day visit Sri Lanka was likely to discuss a shopping list for the military with Pakistan, which is a key supplier of small arms to the island's security forces.

Rajapaksa is heading to Pakistan with his brother Gotabaya Rajapaksa who is the secretary to the ministry of defence. The president is also the minister of defence.
Pakistan is also a key source of military training for Sri Lankan security personnel.
The two countries entered into a free trade agreement last year based on the Indo-Lanka FTA.
