SRK’s house did not violate norms: Counsel
It was admitted in Bombay High Court that the balcony of Shahrukh Khan’s heritage bungalow Mannat in Bandra falls outside his compound wall. However, it still does not fall on the road, claimed his counsel, reports Urvi Mahajani.
It was admitted in Bombay High Court on Friday that the balcony of Shahrukh Khan’s heritage bungalow Mannat in Bandra falls outside his compound wall. However, it still does not fall on the road, claimed his counsel.
Darius Khambatta, counsel for Khan, argued that only 0.47 metres of balcony fell outside his compound wall. However, it was inside the road line demarcated by the BMC and hence it did not fall on the road, said Khambatta.
The court was hearing a plea filed by NGO Brashtachar Nirmoolan, which alleged that Khan had violated several Development Control Rules while renovating the bungalow and constructing a building.
Khambatta explained at the time of sanctioning his repair and construction plans of the bungalow the BMC had asked him to surrender part of the land as set back area for road widening purpose.
“Hence we took our compound wall inside. And as a result out balcony is jutting out only 0.47 metres. But this is well inside the road line,” argued Khambatta.
