After the first round of monsoon hit Delhi a fortnight ago, the met department had predicted that the second burst of showers for the Capital from Monday. However, rain relief came as late as Saturday in the form of a burst of heavy shower for 20-odd minutes. The total rain was recorded as 4.2mm.
According to the met department, the weather during the next few days will be partly cloudy and rain or thundershower may occur in some areas of the city. They said Saturday's rain took place due to a local disturbance. "A thundery development took place. However, the sky became clear as the disturbance headed towards western Uttar Pradesh. We have forecast rain for the next few days as well," a met department official said. He also said that the downpour won't be as strong as the one a fortnight ago.
On Saturday, the day began on a clear sunny note which became partly cloudy later in the afternoon in some parts of the city. The maximum temperature was recorded at 39.2 degrees, which is four notches above normal and the minimum temperature was 28.5, which is one degree more than what it is for this time of the year. The maximum and minimum humidity was 83% and 40%, respectively.
On Sunday, the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 37 and 28 degrees Celsius.
