Susayraj, Matthew in judicial custody
Kannada actress Marrayya Monica Susayraj and her naval officer fiancee ML Jerome Mathew were remanded to judicial custody by a local court in Mumbai.
Kannada actress Marrayya Monica Susayraj and her naval officer fiancee ML Jerome Mathew, both accused in the Neeraj Grover murder case, were on Tuesday, remanded to judicial custody till June 16 by a local court in Mumbai.
The duo were produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate BG Wankhede on Tuesday afternoon, who remanded them to judicial custody .
Criminal lawyer Niteen Pradhan, representing Susayraj, said that he has already filed a bail application before the Sessions Court which will come up for hearing on Wednesday.
Veils covering the faces of the accused were not lifted even during the court appearance even as the magistrate turned down a request by Pradhan to hold the proceedings "in camera".
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria said that an identification parade of the accused will be carried out as the couple has been remanded to judicial custody on Tuesday.
Many persons including the watchman of the building where Susayraj used to stay, a petrol pump attendant and an attendant in a mall are to identify the couple in order to strengthen the police case against them.
Grover, a creative head with TV production house Synergy Adlabs, was stabbed to death allegedly by Mathew inside Susayraj's apartment in suburban Malad on May 7 over a suspected "love triangle". Susayraj and Mathew allegedly chopped Grover's body in several pieces, put them in three bags and then disposed them by burning them at Manor.
Mathew was allegedly unhappy with Grover's proximity to Monica while Susayraj, aspiring to get into TV serials, was continuing with the friendship hoping to get a break, police had said earlier.
