Sushma Swaraj opposed to "personal criticism"
Union Minister Swaraj said she was opposed to criticism of personal character of leaders, "especially of the lower type".
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said on Tuesday that she was opposed to criticism of personal character, "especially of the lower type" being made by political parties during campaigning for forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
"Some decency and decorum should be maintained by leaders of the political parties", she told reporters while campaigning for the BJP candidate from Jabalpur-Katni Lok Sabha seat Rakesh Singh.
To a query, she said "the foreign origin issue of Congress President Sonia Gandhi is an important issue in the polls."
However, she left it to the `intelligence' of the voters to give their verdict on the issue and was confident that the people would use intelligence while casting their franchise.
"In this Lok Sabha polls, development is one of the main issue on which the ruling BJP is stressing and would appeal to the masses to cast their franchise", Swaraj added.
Referring to women, Swaraj said unless and until a bill is passed by the Parliament the women would not get their due right.
She expressed confidence that NDA government would return to power under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
