A 21-year-old woman, who was presumed dead with her parents also having cremated a body, returned stating that she had left home as she was unhappy with the groom chosen for her.

The woman, Vennila, went missing a few months back and her father Chinnaya filed a missing complaint with the police.

Later, the police personnel, who spotted an unclaimed body, showed it to her parents who "identified" it as that of their "daugther Vennila".

The body was cremated after performing last rites.

However, in a big surprise to her parents, Vennila turned up home on Monday.

When questioned by the police, Vennila said she had left home without informing anyone as she was not happy with the groom her parents had chosen for her.

Alangudy police inspector A Panneerselvam told PTI that the woman was produced before a court and later sent with her parents.

"A probe is on to identify the body that was wrongly presumed to be that of Vennila by her parents" he said.
