The exhibition starting at the India Habitat Centre, will be accompanied by public discussions in the evenings by eminent personalities on vital issues like integrating the city landscape and its green expanses, reviving Yamuna, making the streets pedestrian friendly, protecting natural and built heritage and public transport.

It is a first attempt of its kind to define the future of Delhi and improve the quality of life for the ordinary citizen courtesy the Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC).

The Art Commission was given a fresh lease of life last year after celebrity architect Charles Correa was made its chairman and eminent architects Jasbir Sawhney and Prof M Shaheer and eminent historian Prof Narayani Gupta were made its members.

They set up twelve task forces to look into various aspects of the urban scape and come out with solutions for them.

Over hundred architects, planners and experts worked on a voluntary basis to come out with their vision for Delhi's future.

The exbition panels show how with a little imagination and design solutions face of Delhi can be turned around.

Secretary DUAC Dina Nath said that the exhibition traces the history of Delhi from the fortified city of the Mughals to the Garden City of the Imperial British Rule and goes on to show how the fragmentated parts of Delhi can be reintegrated.

The exhibition organisers said that Delhi need not emulate unsustainable models developed in other countries. Delhi has its own natural heritage, built form and vibrant populations with great entrepreneurial skill.

The exhibition is a tripartite effort of private professionals, government and citizens to chalk out a sustainable future for Delhi.

DUAC to get more teeth The Urban Development Ministry is working out a strategic partnership between MCD, DDA, NDMC,PWD, CPWD and DMRC so that the decisions of the Urban Art Commission on improving the city becomes binding on them.

This means that the citizens and professional experts will finally have a say in the city's future.
