Traffic deptt to start e-challan System in Jammu
The Traffic Department of the state would start e-challan system in Jammu with installation of optical cameras at all the traffic signals. A team lead by superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic (Rural) has been sent to Bangalore to get training of e-challan system.

The traffic department would prepare to install optical cameras at all the traffic signals and start e-challan system in the city.
A Delhi-based company, Onex Electronics, would install traffic signal lights with optical cameras and signal lights.
“With the help of the equipped optical cameras, the violators can be held and fined for the violation of the traffic rules,” said an official of the Onex electronics.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic, Manmohan Singh told Hindustan Times, “The traffic signals will be equipped with optical cameras, and then we will start the e-Challan system, to control the traffic violation in the city.”
“The installed traffic lights have the options of optical camera, and it will be installed soon,” SSP added.
The e-Challan system is the system of sending challan to the violator’s home, after the optical camera capture the picture of the vehicle of the violator.
According to the sources, the project of the installation of optical camera was approved with the traffic lights, but due to lack of funding by the authorities it was delayed however the traffic cops are in Bangalore for training but the funds for the optical cameras are still to be approved.
