Train drivers resolve not to drive in night

In the wake of the attack on Gyaneshwari Express in West Bengal, the All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) today decided that the drivers would not run trains through Maoist affected areas in the night till adequate security was guaranteed.

"AILRSA has decided not to run trains in passing through rebel stronghold areas in the night till adequate security arrangements are made in the trains," the Association said in a memorandum submitted to Raveindra Gupta, (Chakradharpur) Divisional Railway Manager of South Eastern Railway.

AILRSA President, H N Singh and Vice-president Vijay Mandal alleged that sufficient security arrangement was not provided in trains passing through these areas though the railway was aware that Maoists were observing a 'Black Week' from today.
