Two American women were detained after a firearm was found in their possession at the Bagdogra airport in Siliguri on Monday.

Manika Bond (57) and her daughter Eather (37) were proceeding to board a Delhi-bound Air Deccan flight when a nine mm pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition were found in their luggage, a senior police officer said.

Both were detained for interrogation.

The two, who had arrived in India on March 24, were returning after a six-day trip to the hill station Darjeeling.
