Two mobile phones recovered from Shahabuddin in Siwan jail
Siwan DM and prison authorities in a raid at Siwan jail recover two mobile phones from the possession of the controversial RJD MP Md Sahabuddin, reports Javed Akhtar.
The Siwan District Magistrate SK Mall and prison authorities raided the Siwan jail on Tuesday night and recovered two mobile phones from the possession of the controversial RJD MP Md Sahabuddin, convicted recently in a case of kidnapping.
Two other mobile sets and four chargers were recovered from his supporters in the adjoining cell.
Mall, who led the raid along with Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar, said he was tipped off about Sahabuddin using mobile phones inside the jail. When asked whether a case has been lodged in this connection or not the DM said, "We are looking at all the legal aspects before lodging a formal case in this connection. This is a major prison offence in violation of the jail manuals," he said.
Prison manual empowers the district magistrate to order additional imprisonment up to two years to an inmate caught violating it.
Sahabuddin was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court on May 8 in connection with the kidnapping and suspected murder of a CPI-ML leader Chote Lala Gupta in 1999.
