Vijay Kumar, senior superintendent of police (SSO) said that the police got specific information that a group of terrorists was hiding in Sangranpati village falling under the jurisdiction of Police station Trehgam. He said that the police and Army's 17 Dogra immediately sealed the village and launched a massive operation to flush out the terrorists.
The operation led to clash between the terrorists and the troops, he said adding one of the terrorist was killed in this encounter while others managed to flee to a neighbouring villagen Dardhare. Police and the troops followed the terrorists. He said that the troops of 14 Grenadiers also joined in.
"In the ensuing gunfight two more terrorists were killed at Dardhare.The house the terrorists were hiding in also suffered damage," the SSP said.
In a separate operation, police arrested two operatives of Al Badre terrorist group in Bandipora. They were identified as Irshad Ahmad Bhat and Shamim Dar of Nasu Bandipora. One hand grenade was recovered from them.
