UEFA to decide on Milan's participation in Champions League
UEFA will decide at an emergency meeting on Thursday whether AC Milan will play in this season's Champions League.
UEFA will decide at an emergency meeting on Thursday whether AC Milan will play in this season's Champions League.
Spokesman William Gaillard said UEFA would discuss the list of clubs put forward by the Italian football federation for Europe's top club competition. The list includes AC Milan, Inter Milan, AS Roma, and Chievo Verona, Gaillard said.
Milan on Tuesday successfully appealed against a penalty it received in Italy's match-fixing scandal, which would have barred it from taking part in the Champions League.
"The court decision on Tuesday includes Milan in the list. We are not paying specific attention to one club or another. It's about whether UEFA accepts the whole list, or part of it," Gaillard said.
The Italian sports court on Tuesday reduced the points penalty, making AC Milan eligible to enter the competition.
The meeting, which will include UEFA president Lennart Johansson, is expected to make a decision by midday. The fixtures for the third round of the Champions League will be drawn on Friday.
