Uma Bharti leads Janadesh Rally in Delhi
Speaking at the Janadesh Rally held in central Delhi, Uma Bharati said BJP was a party of managers.
After several campaigns in parts of north India, expelled BJP leader Uma Bharati on Tuesday addressed a rally in New Delhi to demonstrate her strength.
Speaking at the Janadesh Rally held at the Ramlila Grounds in central Delhi, Uma Bharati said BJP was a party of "managers".
She said senior leaders of the party, including LK Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, kept quiet on important issues and did not take any action.
Uma Bharati was joined by suspended BJP leader Madan Lal Khurana.
Earlier, she offered prayers at the Sikh Gurdwara Bangla Sahib along with him.
Uma Bharati said the dispute over the Ranjamabhoomi site at Ayodhya was a matter of faith and belief and it was only because of Hinduism that India was a secular country.
Pointing out that she had equal respect for all religions of the country, she said the people should understand the power of nationalism.
Uma Bharati had staged another rally -- Ram Roti Yatra -- in November 2005 after she was suspended from the party following protests at being denied the post of chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Later, she was expelled.
Uma Bharati was first suspended from the BJP in November 2004 after walking out of a meeting chaired by Advani in full view of TV cameras.
She was reinstated after she apologised in writing.
