Union ministers Patel, Kulaste file papers in MP
BJP's Union ministers from Madhya Pradesh Prahlad Patel and Phaggan Singh Kulaste were among 23 candidates who filed their nomination for May 5 polls.
Senior BJP leaders and Union ministers Prahlad Patel and Phaggan Singh Kulaste were among 23 candidates who filed their nomination on Monday, the third day of filing papers for the election in 12 of the 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh to be held on May 5.
With this, the total number of candidates who have filed their nomination papers rose to 41. As many as 18 candidates had filed their papers till April 10, the second day of filing nominations.
Patel, Union Coal Minister, filed his papers for Chhindwara constituency after taking out a procession, while Kulaste, who is minister of State for Tribal Affairs, filed nomination from Mandla, which he represented in the dissolved Lok Sabha.
BJP's Ramakrishna Kushmaria, a member in the dissolved House, filed his papers for Khajuraho seat.
In Satna, Ganesh Singh of BJP, Rajendra Singh of Congress and Narendra Singh of BSP filed their nominations, while Sunderlal Tiwari of Congress, Chandramani Tripathi of BJP and Shiv Narain of Apna Dal filed their papers from Rewa.
Patiram Singh of Samajwadi Party filed his nomination paper for Sidhi constituency.
The last date for filing nomination for the 12 seats going to polls in the third phase is April 15, while scrutiny is slated for April 16 and the deadline for withdrawal of candidature is April 19.
