A 65-year-old villager was killed after being caught in a gunbattle between the ULFA and a joint team of police and CRPF in upper Assam's Sibsagar district.

The encounter took place near Rongali Himpara LP school at Moran on Sunday night.

"No casualty or injury was reported from either the ULFA or the security side," the sources said.

Meanwhile, three ULFA linkmen involved in bomb blasts in Tinsukia district recently were arrested on Sunday and a grenade and ammunitions were seized from them.

A powerful improvised explosive devise (IED) was also found on Sunday at Dengaon under Howraghat police station of Karbi Anglong district.
