“If associations are to be run by politicians in this manner, then how can we expect good players in future?” said former India player Narendra Hirwani. “I believe and respect the judiciary. Today we are here to appeal to people that this Gentleman’s Game should not go in wrong hands,” the BCCI central zone selector added.

On their involvement in the poll campaigning, Hirwani said since they were players, they are just asking MPCA members to take the right decision on Sunday (the day when MPCA votes to elect its president) if they really wanted betterment of cricket in the state.

Jagdale, the BCCI secretary and a former Indian cricketer from Indore, said he was pained at seeing the sorry state of affairs in the IDCA. “It is very shocking and sad to see where now Indore cricket is lying,” he said. He blamed IDCA president Kailash Vijayvargiya for the present condition of Indore’s cricket. “What have they done for development of cricket in the city -- once known for many cricketing legends like Colonel CK Nayudu, Captain Mushtaq Ali, Chandu Sarwate?” he asked.
