Sounds interesting! Well, on Friday when Robin Diallo, first secretary, cultural affairs, US Embassy, met IIM’s culture-secretary Varun Bansal, post graduate programme II student, creative ideas were exchanged.

Diallo was very excited after knowing about IIM’s 3.4 band that comprises talented IIM-L students and needless to add Bansal was floored with the meeting. “We discussed the possibility of an exchange programme where in US artists could come and perform on the campus while our students could go out and perform with them,” Bansal told HT Live later. The meeting between Bansal and the US first secretary was a result of Prof DS Sengar’s effort.

As chairman, Students’ affairs (besides being the founder chairman of Legal Management Group at IIM-L), Prof Sengar who had invited Diallo for his ‘environment awareness’ workshop that is being funded by the US Embassy, took the initiative for the meeting between Bansal and Diallo.

“Well, there are several possibilities. A cultural collaboration could definitely be looked into. Though, no decision has been taken, I was very excited with the creativity of IIM students,” Diallo said. She added, “Possibilities like Indo-US evening of music or a band-fest in which IIM lads could also participate are there,” she said.

Bansal said that the US first secretary agreed to look into his request for a cultural exchange. “An art exhibition of US artistes is currently on in India and the US first secretary was kind enough to suggest that the exhibition could come to IIM too,” he added.

Diallo also visited the Academic Staff College at Lucknow University (LU) and later also delivered a lecture on “Teaching of Language Through Participatory Methods” at Education Department of the varsity. She visited the varsity on the invite of Prof Rakesh Chandra of the department of Philosophy.
