We can do better: Modi kicks off BJP campaign in state
Narendra Modi, Gujarat chief minister and the man in charge of the BJP’s election campaign in Maharashtra, flagged off the campaign in the state, calling for all states to follow his “Vibrant Gujarat” model, reports Pradip Kumar Maitra.
Narendra Modi, Gujarat chief minister and the man in charge of the BJP’s election campaign in Maharashtra, on Wednesday flagged off the campaign in the state, calling for all states to follow his “Vibrant Gujarat” model.
The BJP leadership has called in Modi to fill in the shoes of late Pramod Mahajan at a time when the party’s 25-year old electoral alliance with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra is under a severe strain.
Addressing a large gathering, Modi cited several development programmes carried by his government and asserted that such growth for the country was only possible if BJP came to power in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“We are selling milk to Singapore and from the next year it will be available in Europe. If Gujarat can carry such developments why are they not possible in other states?” he said.
He also criticized the Union government for its failure to tackle the terror attacks in the country and asked the people to elect BJP for the better development, security and governance to the country. The Congress has no political will to tackle terrorism, he added.
