Reiterating her call for a separate Tamil state in Sri Lanka, AIADMK leader J. Jayalalitha Wednesday said the Indian Army would be sent to the island nation to carve out Tamil Eelam state if her alliance wins all the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
"If the AIADMK-led alliance wins all 40 seats (39 in Tamil Nadu, one in Puducherry), then the Indian Army will be sent to Sri Lanka to carve out a separate Eelam state, like what Indira Gandhi did to Pakistan by carving out Bangladesh," Jayalalitha told an election rally at Villupuram, about 250 km from Chennai.
The former chief minister had made similar remarks last week.
Jayalalitha made the remarks as the Sri Lankan military continued to advance into the last strip of coastal territory the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) still holds.
