DHBVN managing director Md Shayin said this during a workshop on ‘Capacity Building’ on Wednesday. At least 50 officers of the distribution company participated in it.

He said the Rs 430-crore World Bank project aimed to strengthen and augment power distribution system in Gurgaon, Faridabad and Charkhi Dadri.

Under this project, Rs 167.41 crore would be spent on strengthening power distribution system in Faridabad, Rs 119.43 crore in Gurgaon and Rs 27.10 crore in Dadri. Besides, Rs 116.54 crore would be spent on advance metering infrastructure (AMI) in the DHBVN.

The work in Dadri is already on and is likely to be completed within this financial year, while schemes meant for Gurgaon and Faridabad are likely to be completed by March 2014.

Shayin said 80% of the project's cost would come as loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Devel-
opment (IBRD), while the remaining amount for the scheme would be contributed by the borrower as equity.

The major objectives of the project are reduction in transmission and distribution losses, and improvement in revenue collection efficiency, along with giving better quality power supply to consumers. The DHBVN has identified 93 feeders of 11KV-level for high voltage distribution system (HVDS) where the system is over-stretched, particularly in areas having un-planned growth of residential and commercial establishments. HVDS will improve the power supply situation in the towns.
