FC Pune City beat Mumbai City FC 2-1 in a tightly contested Maharashtra derby in Pune. Balwant Singh gave Mumbai an early lead and Mumbai defended well for most of the game, keeping the home side at bay. However, Raju Gaikwad gave away a penalty in the 73rd minute which Emiliano Alfaro duly converted. The Uruguayan striker was once again at hand to tap in from close range in injury time as Pune City FC went on to register their second straight win on the trot. 9:54 PM IST: Full-time: Pune 2-1 Mumbai. What a game that was. Mumbai looked the better side for 70 minutes, but the wheels fell off after Alfaro converted a penalty. His late winner came as a result of a good counter-attack and Pune continue their upward trend in form. Mumbai, meanwhile, are left to ponder what could have been.

9:52 PM IST: GOAAAAL! Alfaro scores what looks like it could be the winner. He taps in after a cross from Diego Carlos.

9:50 PM IST: 4 minutes have been added on.

9:43 PM IST: The game is entering it’s final minutes now and the scores are level. Neither side will be disappointed with a draw, but both would prefer to end the game with three points in the bag.

9:38 PM IST: 10 minutes to go. Can either side find a winner at this point?

9:33 PM IST: GOAL! Emiliano Alfaro equalises from the penalty spot. Raju Gaikwad brought down Diego Carlos inside the box and the referee points to the spot. Alfaro makes no mistake with the spot kick.

9:28 PM IST: Pune continue to be patient in attack but with the clock running down, they need to show more urgency.

9:23 PM IST: A little less than 30 minutes to go and neither side looks likely to score at this point.

9:18 PM IST: It’s been an end-to-end affair this half but the scoreline remains unaffected. Mumbai fans would like it to stay that way.

9:13 PM IST: The game continues to be a physical one. Alfaro came off worse in that challenge.

9:10 PM IST: Mumbai can’t look to sit back for the rest of the half, can they? Another goal would be ideal for them.

9:07 PM IST: Diego Carlos with a fizzing shot from a wide angle that goes just past the far post. Pune continue to threaten.

9:05 PM IST: The second half is now underway.

8:49 PM IST: Half-time: FC Pune City 0-1 Mumbai City FC. Balwant Singh’s goal separates the two sides at half-time. Can Pune find their way back into the game? Join us in a few to find out.

8:47 PM IST: Amrinder continues to impress between the sticks, this time saving a wonderful free-kick effort from Marcelinho.

8:43 PM IST: The half is drawing to a close and Pune still can’t seem to find a way past a resolute Mumbai’s defence.

8:39 PM IST: Bad news for Mumbai as goalscorer Balwant Singh has been stretchered off with a bad injury.

8:37 PM IST: Goian leading from the front here. The skipper has been flying into tackles as Pune continue to pile forward.

8:35 PM IST: Pune looking more and more dangerous as the half wears on. At this rate, an equaliser before half-time can’t be ruled out.

8:31 PM IST: Pune have had plenty of possession after conceding but their finishing has been well below par.

8:28 PM IST: Marcelinho is one-on-one with Amrinder but he takes an extra second to set up a shot with his left foot, which is enough time for Lucian Goian to get in the block. That should have been an equaliser for the home team.

8:25 PM IST: Pune are settling into a bit of an attacking groove here. Mumbai need to be careful to see out this phase and not concede an equaliser. Gurtej Singh heads on target from an indirect free-kick but Amrinder collects comfortably.

8:22 PM IST: A rare defensive lapse from Mumbai sees Diego Carlos get in a shot from inside the box but it’s straight at Amrinder who punches it away for a corner, which comes to nothing for the home side.

8:19 PM IST: Pune need to hit back as soon as possible, but they need to find their rhythm first. Mumbai have them well-scouted and are not affording them a ton of space to operate in.

8:16 PM IST: GOAL! Balwant Singh hits a lovely shot from distance and it soars into the back of the net, giving the visitors the lead. You can’t say that wasn’t coming.

8:13 PM IST: Gerson Viera with a good shot from distance but Kamaljit Singh saves well.

8:11 PM IST: Pune have grown into the game but the Mumbai defence looks solid tonight.

8:07 PM IST: The Mumbai defence holds off a Pune attack. The opening minutes have belonged to the away side.

8:03 PM IST: Mumbai have dominated possession from the get-go, forcing the home team on the defensive for the time being.

8:00 PM IST: The referee blows his whistle and we are underway!

7:55 PM IST: The players have emerged from the tunnel and kick-off is just moments away.

7:50 PM IST: Another key part of Pune’s victory vs Kolkata is young midfielder Rohit Kumar. It will be interesting to see how well he does as the tournament progresses.

7:40 PM IST: It’s worth noting that Pune midfielder Marcos Tebar has been an important cog in the Pune machine with his passing and control. His midfield play will be key in unlocking the three-man defence of Mumbai.

7:30 PM IST: Mumbai shot-stopper Amrinder Singh has made 9 saves so far in this tournament, the most by any goalkeeper this year. How much will Mumbai depend on him to get a result today? We will find out soon, because kick off isn’t far away now.

7:15 PM IST: Thiago Santos’ effort vs Goa was voted Goal of the Week by fans. Will he have a similar impact coming off the bench for Mumbai tonight?

7:05 PM IST: Mumbai stick to their 3-4-3 formation, which won’t be easy to break down. It will be interesting to see how Marcelinho and Alfaro fare against this defence.

7:00 PM IST: FC Pune City XI: Amrinder Singh (GK), Lucian Goian (C), Marcio Rozario, Gerson Vieira, Raju Gaikwad, Sehnaj Singh, Abinash Ruidas, Sanju Pradhan, Achille Emana, Everton Santos, Balwant Singh.

Mumbai City FC XI: Kamaljit Singh (GK), Gurtej Singh, Rafael Lopez, Lalchhuanmawia Fanai, Marcos Tebar, Rohit Kumar, Isaac Vanmalsawma, Diego Carlos, Baljit Sahni, Marcelinho (C), Emiliano Alfaro.

6:55 PM IST: The line-ups will be announced shortly. Both teams are likely to field attacking sides in a bid to win this game.

6:45 PM IST: Pune will go into the game as favourites given their superb showing vs ATK. However, Mumbai did well to contain FC Goa and have the ability to keep Pune’s forwards in check.

6:30 PM IST: Hello and welcome to live coverage of the ISL game between FC Pune City and Mumbai City FC!

FC Pune City scored two late goals in their opening game vs Delhi Dynamos but it wasn’t enough as they succumbed to a 3-2 defeat.

However, their second match saw them put in a much improved performance as they beat defending champions ATK 4-1 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.

Similarly, Mumbai City FC started the campaign with a 2-0 loss to current league leaders Bengaluru FC and were dominated in all departments.

However, they beat FC Goa 2-1 in what was a closely contested match to get their maiden win of the season and will be looking to continue this run of form against their rivals.

However, Alexandre Guimaraes’ side will have to be wary of Pune’s attacking prowess. Marcelinho and Emiliano Alfaro have both scored two goals in as many games and will look to add to their tally.

On the other hand, Ranko Popovic’s men will have to be at their best to score freely against a side that proved hard to break down in their last game.
