Jewellers in Indore leave no stone unturned to push Dhanteras sales

Latest designs, making charge cuts, flat discounts, gifts, lucky draws — jewellers in Indore are leaving no stone unturned to push up sales ahead of Dhanteras and Diwali.

If the trend is anything to go by, people in city are fast shifting their loyalty from the glitter of gold to the sparkle of solitaires. City jewellers expect the gold price to be under Rs 28,000 per 10 gram on Dhanteras that falls on Tuesday.

"Going by the sales during pushya nakshatra, we are expecting a very good response on Dhanteras. Lightweight jewellery and diamond pendant sets are in much demand," said Indore Sona Chandi Vyapari Sangh president, Hukum Chand Soni.

"We are offering flat discount on per 10 gram hallmark ornament besides 20% off on all diamond jewellery," Rajkumar Jain, who has a showroom in Sarafa Bazar said.

Jewellers say that people here who believe the ritual of buying something precious on Dhanteras brings luck for the rest of the year, usually indulge in light-weight jewellery with earrings, finger rings, chains and pendants being the best buys.

People also make use of the festive offers to purchase jewellery for the upcoming wedding season. "From necklace and earring sets to bangles, people also buy for marriage purposes on Dhanteras," Jain said.

The discount offers are not limited to jewellery alone. Consumer durables and electronic goods showrooms have come out with a host of offers including free assured gift with every purchase, exchange offers, and holiday packages for lucky winners.

Other popular offers include zero down payment and interest-free EMIs. Not to be left behind, automobile dealers are also offering discounts, loyalty bonus and exchange offers this festive season.
